Press Release from House of Light Foundation in Aden


In Collaboration with House of Light Foundation (Aden), Eryab foundation (Sana'a)  organized a field visit to IDPs Schools for 20 trainees aiming to write humanitarian stories about IDPs situation and suffering. 



This visit comes as a conclusion of a training session on Social media and issues of refugees and IDPs conducted by Eryab Foundation for development and studies, in partnership with Canadian fund to support local Initiatives and ADRA.


Mohammed Shamuddin ,executive manager of Eryab, stated that the session took three days aiming to build capacity of 20 trainees on social media , writing reports and humanitarian stories  of IDPs and refugees.



On the Other hand, Sahar Nuraddin , Executive Director of House of Light Foundation, stated that this initiative comes as a follow up activity of an initiative with YEMEN PEACE PROJECT aiming  to assist IDPs last Ramadan with food.

This session was conducted in partnership of House of Light Foundation that hosted the training in its training hall , Beeatuna Organization and the Yemeni Center of Human Rights.

Press Release from House of Light Foundation in Aden City


The Yemeni Center for Human Rights and Beeatona " our environment" organization and in collaboration with House of Light Foundation have finished a workshop targeted 25 participants from various youth initiatives and foundations in Aden. The workshop theme is to engage youth in development and social peace in areas of armed conflict and it aims to contribute in providing a sustainable protecting environment to reinforce community contribution in development.

In a press release , Amal Almakhedhi , executive manager of Yemeni centre of human rights, declared that this workshop aimed to distribute initial information on a number of life skills that will contribute in boosting the next stage of the project , which will include implementation of activities by the participants in their provinces. The participants have selected the issues that increase conflict in Aden as lawlessness and importance of enforcing the national identity.

On the other hand, Sahar Nuraddin , Executive Director of House of Light Foundation, emphasized on the importance of  collaboration between civil society organizations  to engage youth into development process. Further, she explained that House of Light Foundation adopts all youth initiatives and welcomes them to use its facilities which serve youth empowerment and engagement
.
Through the three days ,25 participants were trained on principles of human rights, role of media on youth engagement in community development, principles of voluntarism , documentation and monitoring, writing reports ,leadership and problem solving skills.



This training was conducted in Aden with partnership of Wedyan society for development , House of Light Foundation, Bader foundation for development, Women center for studies, Basmat Shabab initiative, Mawadda society and Aryab foundation for development.

Yemeni CSOs Celebrating World AIDS Day 2011...

On Wednesday ,1/12/2010,Morning, in Media college in Sana'a University , the symposium was held under a slogan of " It is time to be together". It was on " Rights of People living with HIV AIDS".

This symposium was conducted in cooperation of Future Youth Foundation (Hadramout Province) , the Health Development Foundation (Sana'a) , and House of Light Foundation (Aden City).

The symposium presented a number of speeches. Dr.Mohammed Muthanna has a speech as a delegate of Media college dean. Then Dr.Fawzia Gharamah , UNAIDS –Yemen Program Coordinator , had a word as well. In addition , a speech was conducted by Samar Albanna on behalf of agencies that organized the symposium.

During the event , the law of People living with HIV AIDS were presented by the person in charge of care in the integral care for People living with HIV AIDS association , Khaled AlHajebi. It is the law that was approved by the Yemeni Parliament in 2009. He also opened a discussion with the students and answers were given by Dr.Fawzia Gharamah.

At the end, Dr.Abdulraqeeb Adduais , head of Health Development Foundation has a speech , clarifying youth role in supporting right of people living with HIV AIDS.

The symposium had some musical breaks expressing Rights of people living with HIV AIDS and the importance of standing with them.

The symposium was atteneded by Dr.Ahmed AlAjel , dean of media college in Sana'a University , Dr, Fawzia Gharamah, UNAIDS –Yemen Program Coordinator, Dr.Abdulraqeeb Adduais , head of Health Development Foundation, Nashwan AlOthmani , media officer in House of Light Foundation, and Khaled AlHajebi, the person in charge of care in the integral care for People living with HIV AIDS association , besides students of media college in Sana'a University.

Besides, Health Development Foundation , based in Sana'a ,and House of Light Foundation, based in Aden, have released a media statement on World AIDS Day, reviewing the official launch of the symposium, and a celebration of the world on this occasion, as well as to review all their activities in this area.

And they said in the statement, Mareb press got a copy of it : "the world celebrated the World Day" to Combat AIDS, which falls on the first of December, the day that is specified by the United Nations, where comes the celebration of today under the slogan" Union of the world in the face of AIDS for generations: free of new infections, and free of fingerprints and discrimination and free of AIDS deaths. "

They added: "In Yemen, Health Development Foundation , based in Sana'a ,and House of Light Foundation ,based in Aden, launched, in cooperation with the United Nations Office to Combat AIDS - Yemen campaign (It is time to be together), which aimed to show solidarity with people living with AIDS and raise community awareness about the importance of integration normally in society. "

The statement pointed out that the campaign covers 5 governorates (Sana'a, Aden, Taiz, Ibb and Dhamar), indicating that the two foundations have supported the campaign to add to a group of youth initiatives and associations, led by young people in those provinces to raise awareness and promote knowledge about the rights of people living in Yemen.

It is worth mentioning that Health Development Foundation is a local civil society working in health and youth development . Currently , it implements ( The tenth house) project funded by MEPI. It aims to raise awareness about Early Marriage risks and support approving the law of determining the safe age for marriage. On The other hand, House of light foundation - Aden, "is an independent non-governmental organization operating in the city ofAden (for now) and aims to influence and bring about positive social change in society through the creation of effective leadership and capacity building to cope with the development and requirements

Yemeni Youth Celebrating of World Youth Day for Democracy


On Monday October, 18th, 2010 held in Sana’a Discussion symposium about “Advance Global Partnership to strengthen Human Rights” whereas four Yemeni CSOs organized the event “Health Development Foundation, Ebhar Foundation for Children and Creativity, Yemeni Voluntary Organization and House of Light Foundation” with support from Canada Fund for Local Initiative (CFLI) in Yemen.

Event held in Health Development Foundation’s place, the event cover “Human Rights Values and Defenders principles. As well as, the Use of Modern technology and social media to promote the defense of Human Rights, in addition of Youth’s role in raising awareness and solidarity on the challenges faced by democracy activists, young people around the world.”

It is worth mentioning that the World Youth Movement for Democracy celebrates the Oct, 18th “World Youth Day for Democracy”. The day which commemorates the young democracy activists around the world in their role in struggling for democracy and often face many problems and obstacles on the way to achieving it. In the same frame of this, the young democracy activists around the world have develop creativity and peacefully means in the face of undemocratic regimes in the world. Last year, the young activists implemented activities such as screening, symposiums, etc to express their globally solidarity in this day.

This year, the day has been made under the theme “Recognizing, young activists at risk”. In particular, we want to draw the World’s attention to the plight of young people who have been detained, or who face possible detention because of their activism in the countries such as (Cuba, Burma, Iran, Egypt, and Zimbabwe), where detention is used by regimes of those states to intimidate and punish activists.

Spoke both of Mr. Nabil Al-Khader, the Chair person of Ebhar Foundation for Children and Creativity about Human rights values and defenders principles and has been shared experiences of Ebhar Foundation for Children and Creativity in blogging while the symposium was facilitated by Mr. Hussein Al-Junied.

The event was attended by number of young activists in human rights, justice and blogging furthermore they shared their stories and experiences. Also they share number of cases that young activists been detained National, regionally and globally, Where all attendees agreed on the importance of these events.

House of Light Foundation issues the first e-book Twitter guide for all users

House of Light Foundation issues the first e-book Twitter guide for all users

be On the occasion of International Day for the "social media", which is decided to celebrated on June 30, House of Light Foundation is pleased to release its first e- under the title of Twitter guide for all users, prepared by the Executive Director of the Foundation Sahar Saeed Nuraddin.

The Foundation said in a press release that Twitter guide for all users is a simplified guide that provides assistance to Arab users to interact with twitter in the context of the new media or social media in a simplified and useful way. The guide includes a collection of information supported with pictures that show how to set an account and interact with it as well as how to get into twitter in business.

The guide is considered the first edition of House of Light Foundation, through which it aims to enrich the Arabic content with books that strengthen Arabic interaction with social media tools.
