Aden Governor meets German Cooperation Minister

ADEN,Jan.10(Saba)- Aden Governor Adnan al-Jeffri met here on Monday with German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Dirk Niebel, who is currently visiting Yemen.

In the meeting, al-Jeffri and Niebel touched upon a number of issues relating to aspects of cooperation between the two countries.

They reviewed the developmental support provided by Germany to Yemen in a number of vital areas and sectors, especially in areas of water and sanitation and technical and vocational training.

The governor stressed the importance of further economic cooperation between the two friendly countries to include other sectors, pointing out that Aden province is looking forward to partnership and twinning with German cities in several areas.

He noted the prospects of the local social development for 2011-2015 relating to the status of Aden in the global competition in terms of the international ports and free zone and its international airport, as well as the tourism components attracting for investments and its developmental needs.

For his part, Niebel praised achievements made in the city of Aden, emphasizing the need to speed up the planned projects. He indicated that he would transfer a positive and realistic image about the city of Aden in terms of economic and environmental developments for attracting investment.

He explained that the German and Yemeni sides discussed various issues related to future cooperation between the two countries, noting that German-Yemeni negotiations would be held during next May and June on the five-year plan.
