Qaeda Operatives Kill 5, Wound 2 in Southern Yemen

Observed by: Mr. Alaa Isam

Al-Qaeda operatives attacked three military vehicles in Lawder (southern Yemen), where violent clashes broke out previously left several dead and wounded from both the Yemeni army and the militants.

Today's January 7th, 2011 attack resulted in killing five soldiers and wounding two, a local official declared to Reuters.

Security and military facilities were exposed to attacks assumed to be al-Qaeda's, while the Southern Movement that demands to separate the south of Yemen accuses the Yemeni government of "supporting al-Qaeda in order to intimate to the international community that in case the south of Yemen separates, it will be a den of al-Qaeda."
